Interactive Photo Desktop

One of my co-workers, after seeing my latest computer desktop asked me if it were interactive:

I thought about messing with him but admitted I had just taken some of my Flickr photos and made the desktop in Photoshop. We talked about how cool it would be if: you could select photos from Flickr or any other source; drag them onto a preview canvas; manipulate their position, scale, and rotation.

I’ve seen a lot of surface/multi-touch computing demos like Microsoft Surface and Perceptive Pixel that implement a similar concept. There’s even one guy who hacked a Wii to do this. Let’s face it though, most people don’t have the money to purchase one of these or will want to tear apart their precious gaming devices just for this little desktop toy.

I thought it would be a fun weekend project to design the interactions and put together a wireframe that illustrates this concept (click to view a larger version):

Anyone want to volunteer to code this into a reality?

That is pretty cool Geoff. I like the wireframe too. I’ve been looking for a decent way to wireframe Flex apps. What did you do that in?

Thanks! The wireframe was created with OmniGraffle Pro. I’ve also used Visio, Illustrator, and even PowerPoint to create wireframes.

I had a very brief stint where I too worked on a Flex app. I used Flex to do the wireframes for it. The nice thing about that approach is I was able to convert the wireframes into a functional prototype.

check this out Geoff. Not the same, but similar.

Also, check out http://www.axure.com best wireframe/functionalspec/prototype tool I’ve found so far.
